Number Field

Definition

A field \(\mathbb{F}\) is called a number field if and only if it is a finite (and hence algebraic) extension of \(\mathbb{Q}\).

Such a field is a proper subfield of \(\mathbb{C}\), that is, \(\mathbb{Q} \subseteq \mathbb{F} \subset \mathbb{C}\).
